3rd/4th Period - We started class with a notebook check and finished the notes from yesterday. Students then watched an episode of the John Adams miniseries. 5th Period - Notebook check and then the pep assembly. All classes got the Chapter 7 Guided Reading and it's also included below. Today's class started by going over the Chapter 4/5 test. Students then took notes on the decline of the relationship between the crown and the colonies. The PowerPoint is included below. Remember that the Chapter 6 Guided Reading should be done by tomorrow.
Students spent class time taking the Chapter 4/5 Test. With any remaining time they were able to work on the Chapter 6 Guided Reading. By Friday, you should have p. 107-115 read and the Chapter 6 Guided Reading done. There will be a notebook check on Friday but not a Type 2.
Today's class started with a reading/discussion of "Jonathan Edwards Paints the Horrors of Hell (1741). 3rd period started work on this on Friday but 4th/5th periods did not get to it so started today. We then had a Notebook Check and Type 2 over the second half of Chapter 5 and discussed relevant content. Lastly, we revisited the New England/Chesapeake DBQ and talked about the process of setting the context in the first paragraph of an essay. Students wrote a practice context, it was not collected. Remember that you have a test over Chapters 4/5 on Wednesday, the review guide is included below.
Today's class started with a notebook check over Chapter 4 and a Type 2 Over assigned readings in Chapter 5. We then discussed Chapter 4/5. Next, students played two Kahoots over this material. Finally, we finished by looking at a primary source from the Great Awakening.
Remember that Chapter 5 needs to be done by Monday and we'll have another notebook check. See you then and have a great weekend! Class time today was spent discussing the influence of mercantilism and how the Navigation Act of 1660 tried to enforce this economic policy.
Important schedule change - as of 5th period, I still don't have a sub for tomorrow. I decided to flip flop Thursday/Friday whether I'm here or not. So here's how it will break down. Thursday - video and work time. If you are gone, you do NOT have to make up the video assignment. Friday - Chapter 4 Notebook Check, Type 2 on assigned Chapter 5 pages (up to page 85) Monday - Chapter 5 Notebook Check Tuesday -Review Chapters 4/5 Wednesday - Chapter 4/5 Test This is all updated on the calendar. I'll see you tomorrow or Friday. Yesterday was Constitution day so students spent most of the period reading a Newsela article on the compromises that were made at the Constitutional convention. Students then answered four SAT style multiple choice questions which we discussed. Roughly once a month we will work on an assignment like this to give students experience with the type of multiple choice questions they will see on the SAT. We then discussed the Chapter 4 reading that has been assigned. Today in class we focused on an activity that analyzes the role of audience and purpose in a primary source. Students read three primary sources and discussed how a consideration of audience and purpose can impact the analysis of a primary source. Remember that by Thursday, pages 72-85 need to be read and that we will have a Chapter 4 notebook check. The Chapter 5 guided reading is included below.
Today's class started with some work on a SAQ from the 2018 exam. Students, with their textbook as a resource, were tasked with analyzing the role of religion in Spanish colonization and in the colonization of New England.
Students then were able to use class time to work on/get help with the article questions for Friday or work on their Chapter 4 Guided Reading. Remember that the article questions are due tomorrow. Today in class we discussed the events of September 11, 2001 and then continued work on the documents from the New England/Chesapeake DBQ. We will continue working on the documents tomorrow and each group will write a thesis for this question.

Today in class, summer assignments were returned and we discussed the important content from the first three chapters. We then moved into Period 2 (1607-1754). Students were put into groups to analyze documents from a DBQ that compares the New England and Chesapeake regions.
Remember that the article questions are due on Friday. We will begin Chapter 4 shortly so you should get started on the article reading if you haven't already done so. |
