To start today's class, we worked on the Historical Thinking skills of Periodization and Causuation. Students in small groups worked on these prompts and then we discussed their findings.

Today in class we went over yesterday's multiple choice test and took notes on the sectional conflict of the 1850s. The PowerPoint is included below. By Friday, read 381-390 from Chapter 18 and have the article read. For the article, do questions 1-3. A couple more days until winter break, finish strong!
Class time today was spent taking the Chapter 16/17 Test. Afterwards, students had time to start reading the article, "The Father of American Terrorism".
For the remainder of the week, read the first 10 pages of Chapter 18 and the article by Friday. Class time today was spent reviewing for tomorrow's test over Chapters 16/17 (Slavery/Expansion). A copy of the review guide is included below.
Class time was spent on writing a DBQ Essay. Reading deadlines are as follow for the week.
Wednesday - Chapter 16 Finished Friday - Chapter 17 Finished Once we worked past the apparent tragedy of not having a snow day today. students wrote two Type 2's on the article and we then had a three stage fisbowl discussion.
Remember that the DBQ is Monday. Today in class students worked on a practice short answer question from the 2016 exam. Afterwards, they recieved a grading rubric and got into groups. The groups then examined three samples and scored them. We then discussed as a class what the actual score was using the College Board feedback. Remember that you need to have the article finished by tomorrow. Plan on two Type 2's (open note) on the article. We then will have a three stage fishbowl discussion. Today we finished the notes we started yesterday on slavery (PowerPoint included below) and students had time to work on their DBQ and get feedback. Remember that the article needs to be read by Friday.
Don't forget to be through page 346 by Tuesday. A reminder that I will be at an AP Conference all day on Monday. With the sub, you should work through assigned readings and work on your DBQ Outline/Thesis. See you Tuesday.
