Today's class started with a discussion of the two letters that were read during the second half of class yesterday. We continued to discuss how the role of audience and purpose impacts analysis of a document.
We then talked about the role of economics in the century before the American Revolution. Students were introduce to the concept of mercantilism as England attempted to regulate the colonies after a period of salutary neglect. At the end of class, students read through portions of the Navigation Act of 1660, we'll discuss this at the outset of class tomorrow.
