Today in class we read/discussed two primary sources. First we discussed S. Carolina's "Justifying Secession" and how they used the Founding Fathers and the idea of the Law of Compact to justify their secession. We then discussed Lincoln's response to these ideas in a portion of his "First Inaugural Address."
We spent the last 10 minutes previewing Chapter 20. Remember that the Chapter is to be read by Thursday.
In 4th/5th period, I showed a map that illustrates the ideas that from a cultural and economic standpoint, the United States could be divided into 11 different nations. I was asked if there was something that explained this idea in more depth so I've provided a link. See you tomorrow.
